How Physical Therapy can help:

Whether a woman has a partial hysterectomy or a complete hysterectomy, the muscles, tissue, and nerves of the pelvis can be compromised during surgery. During or after the surgery the muscles of the pelvic floor may become tight or develop myofascial trigger points, the surrounding connective tissue can become restricted, and the Pudendal Nerve could be injured. These changes in the muscle, tissue, and nerves can result in pain and/or dysfunction of the urinary, bowel, and/or sexual systems.

Your physical therapist will normalize the tight muscles, tissue, nerve mobility, and eliminate myofascial trigger points with manual therapy techniques. A home exercise program will be prescribed to you to facilitate recovery and maintain the gains made. Resolution of the musculoskeletal dysfunction will result in the elimination of your symptoms.
