On Wednesday, Saturday, June 26th 9am PDT / 12pm EDT, the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center is hosting a virtual fundraiser via Zoom combining two things we care deeply about: pelvic health and racial justice.  PHRC Staff member Melissa Patrick, PT, DPT, RYT will be facilitating a 60 minute movement practice entitled “Restorative Movement for Reproductive Justice”.

The focus of this class will be to have an embodied understanding of what the pelvic floor is, how to relax it, and how to connect the pelvic floor with stress management and the calming of the nervous system. Inspired by restorative yoga, this will be a gentle class with guided breathing, stretching, visualization, and meditation. For folks impacted by and fighting for social justice, this class is a call for a mindful check in with our bodies, an invitation to explore where we might be holding tension, and an introduction to learn how to begin the work of releasing that tension. This workshop is accessible to any and everybody as it will be a gentle and slow paced class with modifications offered. Come with a yoga mat, any props that you have available, and an open mind.

This is a donation based Zoom class, cost is $10.

100% of the proceeds from the event will be matched by the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center and donated to Sister Song which is an organization focused on reproductive justice for women of color. Sister Song defines reproductive justice as the human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities. Sister Song focuses on access, comprehensive sex education, adequate prenatal and pregnancy care, domestic violence assistance, and so much more.

As pelvic health specialists, the team at the Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center recognizes that racism is a public health crisis and it directly affects the populations we work with. Along with continued education and company growth, we commit to regular financial investments in organizations that work to create awareness and equality positively impacting the health of women of color.
